Environmental Responsibility

Our mission at Tickety-Boo! is to deliver quality, safe and carefully chosen products that are responsibly sourced. We believe that making sustainable choices should be easy, and we work hard to make sure that extends to every aspect of what we do - from the brands we stock to the packaging we use to send your order.

Sustainable Packaging

Throughout our day to day operations, the team makes every effort to reduce our environmental impact:

  • No parcel filler packaging is purchased - we use recycled void filling materials from our own and neighbouring shops deliveries to send out orders.
  • Cardboard boxes - when new cardboard boxes are needed we always go with the sustainable choice. They are made from 60 to 90% recycled materials and are fully recyclable, plastic-free when paired with our paper tape and eco void fill.
  • Paper parcel tape - we only use gummed paper tape to seal our boxes. Made from a combination of natural paper and starch, it is incredibly environmentally friendly and fully recyclable.
  • Reducing and reusing packaging - all surplus cardboard that cannot be used for order packing is recycled and collected weekly.

Our Shop

  • Power-saving features - all staff computers have power-saving features and are automatically switched off when not in use.
  • LED lighting - we use LED lighting throughout our shop. LED lights use up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs.
  • Green energy - we only use renewable green electricity.

Sustainable Brands

Perhaps the most significant way we support environmental responsibility is through the brands we choose to stock. We carefully select brands that share our values around sustainability, ethical manufacturing and responsible sourcing:

  • Lanka Kade - a British fair trade company working with nine artisan groups in Sri Lanka. Toys are made from sustainably sourced rubberwood with non-toxic paints, and even the sawdust from production is donated to local farmers.
  • Green Toys - all products are made from 100% recycled plastic, primarily from recycled milk jugs, and are free from BPA, PVC and phthalates.
  • Clockwork Soldier - all kits are made from FSC certified recycled paper and card, are completely plastic-free and are packaged with minimal waste.
  • House of Puzzles - all jigsaws are made from FSC certified board using plant-based inks.
  • Ravensburger - puzzles are made from FSC certified materials throughout.
  • Nailmatic - a certified benefit company and carbon neutral since 2021, producing water-based, chemical-free cosmetics made in France.
  • Legami - a certified benefit company and carbon neutral since 2021.
  • Furnis - organic cotton washglove puppets made in Europe from 100% certified organic cotton terrycloth.
  • Djeco - committed to responsible manufacturing with a focus on quality, longevity and play value over disposability.
  • Bigjigs Toys - wooden toys made primarily from rubberwood and sustainable plywood, tested to European safety standards and built to last for generations.
