Bigjigs Toys is a wonderful British success story. It all started in 1985 when Peter Ireland, a Craft Design teacher in training, began making wooden puzzles from old floorboards in his garden shed in Kent. Friends and family loved them so much that Peter and his wife Liz began selling at craft fairs across the UK - and a business was born. Forty years later, Bigjigs remains a family-run company with Peter and Liz's sons now serving as directors and even their grandchildren helping to test the toys.
With child development always at its heart - both Peter and Liz were teachers by profession - Bigjigs designs all its toys at its headquarters in Folkestone, Kent. The range covers wooden puzzles, dolls and accessories, garden tools, games, craft kits and much more. Toys are made primarily from rubberwood and sustainable plywood, tested to European safety standards and built to last for generations.
